ÖZET

In this month's survey, we analyzed the economic and political expectations of the society. This is the first time that we are analyzing economic and political expectations, which we usually measure after election periods, during an interim period. In fact, we are going through an important political turning point with the prosecutions against CHP municipalities and the process of seeking a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue. Such a turning point is met with pessimistic expectations and abstentionist attitudes across society. The public's expectations regarding the economy, political polarization and the judicial system are quite pessimistic, and this pessimistic expectation has increased in the last two years. On anti-terrorism and the Kurdish issue, there is an abstentionist and distant attitude.

The second thematic section of this month's survey is about social authoritarianism. According to our survey, the society in Turkey is divided between pluralism and authoritarianism. 2 out of every 5 people have a low tendency towards authoritarianism, while 3 have a high or neutral tendency. The tendency towards authoritarianism significantly determines reactions to political events, and a neutral position carries the potential for higher support for political power.

KONDA Research has been conducting a series of political and social surveys called BAROMETRE every month since 2010. In addition to the standard questions on demographic characteristics, political preferences and economic expectations that we regularly ask in each BAROMETRE survey, we also ask questions about the public's perspective on the issues that are on the public agenda at the time and to measure their perceptions and expectations in different areas. The survey, the 165th in the Barometer research series, was conducted on June 14-15, 2025 by face-to-face interviews with 2106 people in 133 neighborhoods and villages of 85 districts, including the central districts of 27 provinces.
