SUMMARY

The report, published under the theme of “Populist attitudes in Turkish society,” evaluates voter attitudes on issues such as democracy, representation, and populism. Voters' populism scores are calculated based on topics such as the extent to which parliament respects the will of the people, trust in politicians, the elite-public divide, and party affiliation. The report also analyzes Turkish politics in light of voter behavior, political preference trends, and current political developments at the beginning of 2025. The report highlights indicators such as the percentage of undecided voters, the competitive balance between Erdoğan and the opposition candidate, and changes in Erdoğan's public approval rating. The report goes on to examine voters' views on economic conditions and government policies. While satisfaction levels regarding the minimum wage increase and the EYT (those affected by the retirement age) regulation are questioned, voters' economic expectations are analyzed.

KONDA Research has been conducting a series of political and social surveys under the name BAROMETER every month since 2010. In addition to the standard questions we regularly ask in each BAROMETER survey about demographic characteristics, political preferences, and economic expectations, questions are also asked to gauge the public's view on issues currently on the public agenda and to measure perceptions and expectations in different areas. The survey underlying the 138th report in the Barometer research series was conducted on January 7-8 with 3,531 respondents.
